Loving manual labor and fixing things, I did a variety of tasks at the Saint Therese Mission: masonry, carpentry, roofing, water evacuation, gardening, cutting grass, etc. Work boot on my feet, a hat or helmet (at times obligatory) on my head, and a smile on my face, days went by, one after the other, full of good humor, rhythmed by the sun and the construction sites, not to mention that I was there for six full months. Beyond the manual work, the spiritual life at the Mission is excellent for one to keep one’s soul in olympic good shape: Mass and daily rosary, some offices and liturgical functions, weekly adoration et catechism. As a volunteer, I was welcomed into the Mission as into a family. Assimilation is easily done and with much love.  

Passionné par les travaux manuels et le bricolage, j’ai effectué différentes activités à la Mission Ste Thérèse : maçonnerie, charpente, toiture, évacuations d’eaux, jardinage, débroussaillage, etc. Chaussé d’une bonne paire, chapeau ou casquette obligatoire et le sourire aux lèvres, les journées se sont enchainées dans la bonne humeur au rythme du soleil et des chantiers, à en oublier que j’y suis resté 6 mois. Au-delà des travaux, la vie spirituelle à la Mission est excellente pour maintenir son âme en forme olympique : messe et chapelet quotidiens, quelques offices en fonction des jours, adoration et catéchisme hebdomadaires. En tant que bénévole, j’ai été accueilli à la Mission comme un enfant dans une famille, l’intégration s’y fait simplement et avec beaucoup d’amour !
